To love the sun is to turn your face toward its light and be warmed by fingers of heat, but to never give yourself fully to gaze into its depths. To paint what I can never hold creates an interesting incongruity, an artist’s grasp on what can never be owned. This painting brought delight; in the spiraling colour I found a voice for the hands of sun upon the landscape and the beauty of a short but vibrant winter day.
