After teaching English in southern Japan for a year, I know how loud and rambunctious kids can be. For the most part, I love the loud, crazy, fun moments, but every once and a while I would feel pretty overwhelmed. As soon as the chaos was getting to be a bit too much for me though, I would catch a moment like this – pure peace and wonder in a child’s face from something as simple as blowing bubbles. This painting is a reminder to myself to take a deep breath, and savour my own bubble-blowing moments in life.
