My name is Teagan Skin. I am a grade 11 student at Dawson Creek’s South Peace
Secondary School and a member of the Notre Dame Catholic Church Parish. This is a painting of a picture I took of my Auntie’s Mary garden in her backyard while me and my
family were visiting her last summer. I have many different pictures of this specific spot
because it’s so mesmerizing. I chose this particular photo to paint because I find the
angle fascinating and beautiful the way the Mary statue is looking upon the lake and the
sun peeking out of the clouds in the distance. The garden that is planted at the Mary
statue’s feet was planted by my Aunt specifically for this Mary statue. I painted this
“Mary’s Garden” painting because it shows my love for Canada’s nature and my love for painting. It is like what they say “A picture is a thousand words.”.
